Please take the time to read through my Questions and Answers. This page will answer all of your questions hopefully! If not feel free to contact us.
Q. Do you offer stud service?
A: Yes occasionally. Please see "Stud Service" page for more information on this.
Q. What type of food do you feed?
LaShombs' Poms feeds The Honest Kitchen with occasionally raw to all of our dogs. Puppies receive The Honest Kitchen. All of our dogs receive NuVet Plus vitamins daily. I highly recommend NuVet Plus or NuVet Joint Care to all my clients and anyone with dogs or cats. Order NuVet - https://www.nuvet.com/14082
Q. How do I place a deposit?
A: If you are interested in working with us now or in the future, the first and most important step is to submit a puppy application. If you are approved; you will then be able to place a deposit on any available puppy or upcoming litter.
I then email you a deposit contract/receipt through HelloSign. The receipt contains the info about your puppy or desired litter and our deposit terms/conditions, this serves as our deposit contract. Once deposits are placed the available Poms page is updated to announce the good news, the puppy is marked as ON HOLD for _____ Family.
Q. How does your waiting list work?
A: LaShomb's Pomeranians always has first pick if we should decide to keep a puppy. We are always accepting Puppy Applications, once you send in an application we will review it and if approved you will have the opportunity to pick your spot on a specific litters waiting list, if we have one going at the time. If we don't have a waiting list going at that time you will be added to a temporary approved waiting list, keep an eye on our website so you know when a litter waiting list is started, we will contact you as well. We begin accepting deposits once a breeding has taken place but you can wait to place a deposit until the litter is born. We can not hold a puppy without a deposit. See deposit/waiting list page for more info.
Q. How much do you require to hold said puppy?
A: I require a non-refundable and non-transferrable deposit to hold your puppy with the balance due in full by 8 weeks of age (out of state buyers) or 9 weeks of age (in state buyers). All deposits are $500.00. When I receive a deposit that puppy is listed as ON HOLD and is no longer available. Once the balance is paid in full, the puppy is listed as SOLD.
Q. Do you offer shipping?
A: Yes, however I prefer my puppies to be picked up in person. This is so we can meet your family, you can meet us and you can meet your puppies parents/siblings and see where your puppy was raised.
Shipping is available depending on your location, size and age of the puppy to be shipped.
Shipping costs are $400+ for a puppy nanny. If they need to stay over night there can be an additional fee of about $150. This coves the cost of the flight, soft sided travel crate, health exam and certificate.
The nanny and I arrange everything, all you need to do is arrive at the airport at the designated time, show a valid photo ID and pick up your new puppy! We only ship within the USA and Canada.
Q. How much do your pom puppies cost?
A: Our puppies prices vary depending on over all quality, pedigree, sex, color, conformation and full or limited AKC registration. Generally puppies with exotic, desirable, or most frequently requested traits are going to have a higher value. Prices range $1,500 - $3,000 depending on the puppy.
Lowest prices for example might be for larger male. Most expensive prices for example would be for a small blue merle female.
Q. Why should you choose LaShomb's Pomeranians as your breeder?
A: If you are looking for integrity, trustworthy and ethical preservation hobby breeder you've come to the right place. Unlike backyard breeders our Poms are not just our pets, they are hand picked from reputable breeders for their physical traits, pedigree, conformation and over all quality. We breed our females when they are mature and able of raising a litter successfully. We are involved in every step of the breeding, whelping and raising process. What does this mean? Our puppies receive the best quality care, we know each puppy very well and can help you pick the right puppy for your family and life style.
Q. When can my new puppy come home with me?
A: Our puppies must be a minimum of 8 weeks old to leave the litter. Often a particularly small puppy will have to stay until he/she is 12+ weeks old.
We also want to be sure that they are mature enough to handle the stress associated with moving to a new home, leaving behind their mother and litter mates, meeting new people/animals, and experiencing different routines and living situations.
Q. What classification are your puppies?
A: Pomeranian's are a toy breed. There is no such thing as a "teacup" or "micro" Pom. The AKC standard is 3 to 7 lbs. Some are smaller and some larger, which is why I do my best to know my dogs pedigrees. We breed standard size Poms (5 - 7lbs) and most of our puppies will fit these standards, however on occasion puppies could be more than 7lbs as an adult. We can't guarantee adult weight on our puppies as no breeder can. We do our very best to estimate each puppies adult weight using our weight chart.
Q. What organization are your dogs/puppies registered with?
A: All of our Poms are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). It is the only registry we register our puppies with. All of our puppies come with AKC papers.
Q. What's the difference between full and limited AKC papers?
A: Full AKC means you plan to either show or breed and need full registration. Not all puppies will qualify for full registration.
Please see contract for more info on registration rights.
Limited AKC means you do not plan to show/breed and the limited box will be checked off on your registration applications which will restrict both. (limited akc puppies will come with a spay/neuter contract.)
Q. Do your puppies have teddy bear faces, baby doll faces or fox faces?
A: The breed standard calls for a fox type snout, we find all the face types adorable and raise adults that can produce any of these face types. A "baby doll type face" is a slightly wider, shorter snout, this is in between a fox face and a teddy bear face. A "fox type face" is a longer, narrow snout. A "teddy bear type face" is a very short and often very wide muzzle, giving the dog a bear like appearance. We try and focuses on the teddy bear type face. We cannot guarantee the face your puppy will mature into but do our best to identify them.
Q. Are your puppies vet checked before coming home?
A. Yes, all of our puppies are vet checked by our vet (at 8 weeks old) and will come with a vet medical record. All of our puppies are de-wormed by us at 2,4,6,8 and 10 weeks old with NEMEX-2, this is the only wormer we use. Your puppy will have received one - two series of vaccines (first set is given at 8 weeks old) depending on how long they are with us. You will need to make sure your puppy receives all additional sets (plus rabies) to ensure full immunity. (You're vet can provide more info on this)
Q. Does my vet need to give more puppy shots even though you already gave a set?
A: Yes! When you purchase a puppy from us, LaShomb's Pomeranians you are given a vet vaccination record showing when the next set of shots are due. My vet will give the first set of shots at 8 weeks old. This is one 5-way shot which includes distemper-hepatitis (CAV-2), leptospirosis, parainfluenza and canine parvovirus. Your puppy will be due again at 12 weeks plus rabies, then again at 16 & 18 weeks.
It is very important to keep all scheduled vaccinations up-to-date to keep your Pom healthy!
Q. Can I let my new puppy go outside in my own yard?
A: Yes! However, it's best to wait until all your puppies vaccinations are completed at 12 - 18 weeks of age. I do not recommend going on walks, to dog parks or meeting new animals etc. outside the home until all shot are given. The more you expose your puppy to the higher the risk of getting sick.
Q. Can my new puppy change color?
A: Yes, Sables (orange, red, wolf, etc) do change coat color as they go through the "puppy uglies" or "monkey" stage. Other colors such as merle can change. For example we have had a light grayish blue merle puppy that as an adult was a very dark blue merle. We cannot guarantee adult coat color, length or texture but we do our very best to identify the color(s) of our puppies and give a well educated guess as to what they will look like as adults based on the parents, what colors are in his/her pedigree and past siblings.
Q. What age should I spay/neuter my new puppy?
For males our vet recommends a minimum of 5-6 months old and for females a minimum of 5-6 months old. However I recommend waiting till their first birthday, it's best in my personal opinion.
Q. Are Poms good with children?
A: Pomeranians can make excellent family dogs, most of our Poms will be too small to live safely with young children, under 8. If you have children we recommend a larger "throwback" Pom for the safety of the dog. Our puppies get lots of TLC and are used to being around people as well as household noises. Our pups have playpens where they get to run and play and see what is going on around them when they are not out with us.

Q. Why does my 3 - 4 month old puppy not look so fluffy?
A: All Poms go through the uglies or monkey stage. That is where your cute little 13 week old fur ball goes through a transformation. The adult coat usually starts to come in around 6 - 8 months old or longer in some Poms.
Q. Do you breed Pomskies or other designer dogs?
A: NO! We only raise AKC Pomeranians!!! No mixed breeds. We do not support the breeding of mutts.
Q. Can you guarantee my puppy will only grow to be a certain size?
A: No not entirely, it is almost impossible to tell at such a young age. We have seen tiny puppies grow up to be ten pounds and larger puppies be 5 pounds full grown. There are always throw backs in lines, sometimes you get a larger Poms over seven pounds and sometimes a tiny Poms under four pounds.
Q. Can you breed a merle to a merle?
A: NO, NEVER! Merles can be tricky if you do not know about them. Even some pups born to a merle parent that do not look merle can be a phantom or hidden merle. Breeding merle to merle can cause puppies to be deaf, blind or deformed. Merle puppies that are bred safely are just as healthy as any other color, but beware of merles out of two merle parents because two merles bred together have a 25% chance of creating a double merle which is an all white or almost all white merle and they have many health problems!!
Q. I do not plan on breeding my new puppy but would like full AKC papers anyway?
A: We will not do that under any circumstances. It is my personal experience that if you want full AKC registration you plan on breeding and/or showing the puppy. Most pet families are not interested in papers at all, only their new puppy. So please, be honest and upfront when contacting us about one of our precious babies. We are happy to sell breeding quality puppies to hobby breeder homes but you will have to answer more questions. We do NOT want our puppies going to pet stores, puppy mills or to unprofessional breeders.
Q. Do you offer discounts on your puppies?
A. Yes! If you are a return customer you will receive a 10% to 20% discount on your next puppy from us. If you are a new customer and were referred to us by a past puppy buyer you will get a 10% discount on your puppy. If you are a return customer and you referred someone to us and they purchased a puppy from us you will get a 10% discount added on to the discount you already have for being a return customer. Which means you can get $300.00 off your next furry family member! Discount coupons below, please contact breeder for more info.
We only want FOREVER homes for our precious Pom babies! If you do NOT plan on making one of our puppies a member of your family forever please do not contact us. Our dogs are our forever family members and we expect the same for our puppies!
